Splashing water around the leaf (plantain leaf used to eat food instead
of a plate) is to ensure that, ants and small insects without our knowledge
should not fall in the food and die.
Before eating, a handful of food is placed in the edge of the leaf. When
we grow food grains, tiny insects and other lives would have been killed. We
keep this food for these lives. Also with a lofty aim that, other lives also
use this food. Respecting all lives is our culture.

சாப்பிடும் முன்பு இலையை
சுற்றிலும் தண்ணீர் தெளிப்பது சின்ன எறும்புகளோ, பூச்சிகளோ நமக்கு தெரியாமல்
உணவில் விழுந்து உயிர் விடக்கூடாது என்பதற்காகவே.
சாப்பிடும் முன் இலையின்
ஓரத்தில் கைப்பிடிச்சோறு சாதம் வைப்பது உணவு தானியங்கள் விளைவிக்கும் போது
நமக்குத்தெரியாமல் சின்ன சின்ன உயிரின்ங்கள் புழு பூச்சிகள் கொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கும்.
அவைகளுக்கு வைக்கப்படும் பிண்டம்தான் அந்த கைப்பிடிச்சாதம் மற்றும் அந்த சாதம் பிற
உயிரின்ங்களுக்கும் உணவாக வேண்டும் என்ற உயரிய நோக்கமே.
இப்படி எல்லா
உயிரன்ங்களையும் மதிப்பதே நம் பண்பாடு.
